If you’ve already looked around my website, you’ll notice I love to take photographs of insects. While some photographers like to have people as their subjects, I find it more relaxing and enjoyable to find insects and take pictures of them.
Here’s a list of equipment I use on a daily basis with some side remarks:
Think Tank Pro Speed Demon camera bag
- This bag is more on the expensive side than the typical bags you see photographers using. I purchased it because I like having the sidebelt and shoulder strap combination; I don’t like the feeling of my camera bag bouncing around my hip when I’m walking around. Also, I ride a motorcycle and having shoulder-strapped bags aren’t very secure. I checked this bag out in a store and my Canon 40D fit fine. But I wish I had more room, so I guess I should’ve purchased the Speed Racer model instead.
- I would use this bag for most occasions, but would prefer to have a smaller sized, less clunky bag for casual outings.
Canon 40D
- I purchased this camera used from a friend (body only). This is my first purchased DSLR camera. I originally had a Pentax D*ist. Once I decided I wanted to go into macro photography, I wanted to invest in Canon equipment. I’ve had the 40d for about a year now.
Canon Macro 100mm f/2.8
- This was my first lens purchase.
Canon 50mm f/1.8
- This is a fun lens to have and it’s super fast.
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
- Still not sure how I feel about it.
Sandisk 4gb Ultra III Compact Flash card
Kenko Extension Tubes set
- I recently (July ‘09) purchased this off Craigslist for a good price and I love them! If you’re into macro and don’t want to invest in a dedicated macro lens, this would be a nice upgrade.
